The Kid is a 1921 American silent comedy-drama film starring Charlie Chaplin and Jackie Coogan. This was Chaplin's first full-length film as a director; he also wrote and produced the film, which follows a young boy who is abandoned by his mother and raised by The Tramp. It was the second-highest grossing film in 1921. Innovative in its combination of comedic and dramatic elements, The Kid has been considered one of the greatest films of the silent era.
