Heliconius ismenius is a butterfly of the family Nymphalidae found in Central America and northern South America. Pierre André Latreille, a French zoologist, found and described the species in 1817. A toxic and unpalatable species, it shares its striking (aposematic) colour pattern with other similarly toxic species, making it a member of a Müllerian mimicry ring.
